User Agreement

These are the rules for using makinithome.com and the free MAKIN’ IT HOME games. By using the site, you agree to them. If you are under 18, please read this with a parent or guardian.

The short version

  • The book, site, and games teach safety habits. They are not legal advice.
  • The games are free for families, schools, churches, and community groups to use and share.
  • Please do not copy or sell the book’s words, pictures, song, or games without permission.
  • Kids under 13 should use the site with a parent, guardian, or group leader.

Who we are

This website is run by Jaxan Publishing LLC (“we,” “us”), publisher of MAKIN’ IT HOME: 10 Rules to Help You Make It Home Safely from a Police Encounter by A. L. Jaxan. “You” means anyone who visits the site or plays the games.

Agreeing to these terms

By using makinithome.com, you agree to this User Agreement and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

If you are under 18, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians are responsible for how their children use the site.

Kids and families

MAKIN’ IT HOME is a parent-guided book written for families. The site and games are designed for young readers, with a trusted adult nearby. Children under 13 should use the site with a parent, guardian, teacher, or group leader.

The site does not have accounts, chat, or any way for kids to post or share personal information.

Not legal advice

The book, glossary, games, and everything on this site are for general education about staying safe and calm. They are not legal advice, and using them does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Laws are different in every state and can change. Following the ten rules can lower risk, but no book or game can guarantee what will happen during any police encounter. For advice about a real situation, contact a licensed attorney in your state.

Using the games

The six MAKIN’ IT HOME games are free. You may:

  • Play them at home, at school, or in a group.
  • Show them on a big screen during a class, youth group, church, or community event.
  • Share links to them.

You may not sell access to the games, copy their code or artwork into another product, or remove our name from them. Games save scores and progress only on your own device. Clearing your browser data will erase that progress, and we cannot restore it.

Copyright and ownership

The book, its title, rules, rhymes, illustrations, photographs, song, Facilitator’s Guide, games, and site content are owned by A. L. Jaxan and Jaxan Publishing LLC and are protected by copyright and other laws.

You may share short quotes with credit for reviews, teaching, or discussion. For any other use, such as reprinting pages, performing the song publicly for profit, or making copies of the guide, please email jaxanpublishing@gmail.com for permission.

Using the site respectfully

Please do not:

  • Try to hack, overload, or break the site or games.
  • Use the site’s content to mock, harass, or target any person or group.
  • Pretend to be Jaxan Publishing or A. L. Jaxan.
  • Use the site for anything illegal.

Book purchases and bulk orders

Single copies are sold through Amazon, and Amazon’s own terms apply to those purchases. Bulk orders arranged directly with us by email are covered by the price, quantity, and delivery details we agree on in writing at the time of the order.

No guarantees

We work to keep the site accurate and running, but it is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that the site will always be available, error-free, or that its content fits every situation.

Limits on responsibility

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Jaxan Publishing LLC and A. L. Jaxan are not responsible for any loss, injury, or damage that comes from using the site, the games, or the information in them, or from any police encounter. Some states do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update this User Agreement from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Using the site after an update means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in South Carolina.
